spinster=未婚女子 /難聽一點:老處女
Staines =英國地名
ghastly=terrible
I once knew a spinster of Staines,
And a spinster that lady remains;
She’s no figure, no looks,
Neither dances nor cooks-
And, most ghastly of all, she has brains.
